ペットロスと虹の橋
ペットロスに悩んでいる人の心を癒す方法はいろいろありますが、『虹の橋』という詩によってもペットロスを軽減できるといわれています。
虹の橋
天国のほんのわずか手前に「虹の橋」と呼ばれている場所があります。
人間と愛し合っていた動物たちは、この世を去ると『虹の橋』へと向かうのです。
そこには牧草地や丘があって、動物たちはみな仲良く一緒に走り回ったりして遊んでいます。
食べる物も水も、太陽の光もそこには豊富にあって、温暖なところで誰もが快適に過ごしているのです。
病を患っていた動物も、年老いていた動物も、皆がエネルギーを取り戻し、傷を負ったり、不自由な体をしていた動物も、元気いっぱいの元の体を取り戻すのです。
まるで過ぎ去った日の夢のように。ここにいる誰もが幸せで、満ち足りた生活をしています。
でも、たったひとつだけ、気がかりなことがあるのです。
それは、自分にとって特別なあの人が近くにいない寂しさ。
動物たちは、みな一緒に走り回って遊んでいます。
ある時、その中の一匹が急に立ち止まり、遠くの方をじっと見つめます。
その瞳はキラキラと輝き、身体は喜びで小刻みに震えています。
すると、突然仲間から離れ、緑色の草の上を走って行きます。
ものすごいスピードで。まるで空を飛んで行くかのように。あなたを見つけたのです。
『虹の橋』での再会を喜び、二人はしっかりと抱き合います。
そして、離れたりすることは、もう二度とありません。
幸せに満ちたキスがあなたの顔に降りそそぎ、あなたは愛する友を両手で優しくなで、
信頼にあふれた友の瞳を再びのぞき込みます。
あなたの人生から長い間失われていたものの、心の中では一時たりとも消え失せることのなかった、
その瞳を。そして『虹の橋』を渡っていくのです。二人一緒に…

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

虹の橋のたもとで
天国とこの世をつなぐ橋があります。通称『虹の橋』。
いくつもの色から成っているからです。
この『虹の橋』には青々とした草の茂った丘や谷があります。
可愛いがっていた動物たちは、この世を去るとこの橋に向かいます。
ここには、いつでも、食べる物も水もあり、あたたかく、春のような気候に恵まれています。
年老いて、体の弱っていた動物も、ここでは若さを取り戻します。
傷ついた身体もすっかり元通り、元気な姿に戻ります。
動物たちは皆一緒に一日中遊んだりして過ごしています。
けれども、中には様子の異なる動物もいます。
打ちのめされ、飢え、苦しみの人生で、地上の世界で愛されることのなかった動物たちです。
他の動物たちが、一人、また一人と特別な人と一緒に橋を渡っていく姿を羨望の眼差しで眺めているのです。
彼らには、特別な人なんて誰もいません。
地上の世界では、彼らの前にそんな人間は一人も現れなかったのです。
ところがある日、彼らが走り回って遊んでいると、橋へとつながる道沿いに誰かが立っていることに気づきます。
その人は、そこで繰り広げられている再会のシーンを物憂げに眺めています。
生きている間、動物を飼ったことはありませんでした。
その人は、打ちのめされ、飢え、苦しみの人生で、愛されることのない人間でした。
その人がたった一人で立っているところへ、愛されたことのない動物が近づいていきます。
その人がなぜ一人ぼっちなのか興味があったからです。
そして、その愛されたことのない動物と、愛されたことのない人間がお互いに近づくにつれ、奇跡が起こるのです。
彼らは本来、一緒になるべく存在だったのです。
特別な人と愛される動物となるはずが、この世で出会いのチャンスがありませんでした。
今、ようやく、ここ『虹の橋』のたもとで二人の魂が出会い、痛みや悲しみは消え去り、一緒になるのです。
『虹の橋』を一緒に渡っていきます。
離れ離れになることは、もう決してありません。
AT THE BRIDGE
There is a bridge connecting heaven and Earth.
It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge is a land of meadows, hills and valleys, all of it covered with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this lovely land. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. There, the old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole once more. They play all day with each other, content and comfortable.
There is only one thing missing. They are not with the special person who loved them on Earth. So each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up! Then, the nose twitches! The ears are up! The eyes are staring! You have been seen, and that one suddenly runs from the group
You take him or her in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again and again, and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.
Then, together, you cross the Rainbow Bridge, never again to be separated.
